Meet our family
Meet Owner and Founder, Lazaro Borrego
Born and raised in Cuba, Lazaro Borrego made the risky decision to leave all he knew and come to America in his late 20’s. With only $70 in his pocket, virtually no comprehension of the English language, and a wife waiting to rejoin him – he never fathomed that one day he would open his own motocross track.
If you have met Lazaro, it will quickly become apparent he loves three things. He loves his family, he loves motocross, and unlike most – he loves working. A long 12 hour day in the bulldozer moving dirt (in 100 degree Florida weather) is not something that would cause most people to smile… But he genuinely loves his job and it’s not an uncommon sight to see him covered in grease repairing the dozer himself.
When Lazaro came to the US, he temporarily left his motocross riding. But as a true motocross enthusiast, he never left behind his passion for the sport. Now that he has his own playground to ride, he is uniquely able to combine his understanding of the sport with track building. This combined passion for motocross and his work, is undoubtedly the reason he was able to successfully obtain and reopen a motocross track near such a populated city. It is Lazaro and his family’s hope, that Miamimx will continue to grow and touch many lives for years to come.
